« L'érotisme,

c'est donner au corps les prestiges de l'esprit.  »
Georges Perros

English: "Eroticism accords the body all the prestige of the mind."

Comment: Eroticism is not love, nor is it sex, but arousing sensuality.

Why not the play on meaning of the original French? L'esprit can mean "spirit" as well as mind. Some could argue that the real power of eroticism comes from the spirit, not the body or the mind. In any case, the French quote is poking fun at the dualisms we play with constantly which are not dualisms at all.

"The Spirit" ? No idea what you're talking about. Ghosts ? There's mind and there's emotions. Where does "Spirit" come in except as bits of both ? "Spirit" is one of those meaningless quasi-religious words to which everyone but me seems to attach meaning to.

The curmudgeon swats at a gnat with a hammer. Spirit is in "spirits" as in alcohol, as in enthusiasm, energy, zest, as in, "He said with spirit...." Methinks you doth protest too much...
